| Note | Hans Michael DeBold came to America on the Robert and Alice, arriving in Philadelphia on Sept ember 3, 1739. He settled in the Conococheague Valley in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He m ay have been a French Huguenot from Alsace-Lorraine in northeasern France, which is just acro ss the Thine from BAden. He is probably a son of Johannes Michel DeBoldt, who married a Mari a Magdalena Baender in 1714 in nearby Wurttemberg. In 1765, he and wife Elizabeth settled 340 acres in what is today Hampshire County, West Virg inia. In about 1770 they moved to Fayette County, where Hans Michael died in 1787. He and hi s wife are buried in Fayette County. |
