Note

Obituary for Patty Sue Matta Patty Sue Matta peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 17, 2017 at the age of 84. Loving mother of Louis Matta, Jr., Vibiana Matta, Kai Matta, Mary Bryant (Don), John Matta, Theresa Bordelon (Robert) and Joseph Matta. Daughter of the late John Thomas Bridges and Anna Isabel Dunning. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Paul Baudier (Amanda), Timothy Baudier (Holly), Nicole Usey (Jonathan), Sofia Bordelon (Nicholas), Emma Bordelon, Michael Richards, Harper Richards, and Ashli Matta, and three great-grandchildren: Andrew Baudier, Penelope Baudier and Montgomery Richards. She is survived by three siblings and was preceded in death by seven siblings. She will be remembered for her selflessness and love she had for her family and friends along with her devotion to her children and grandchildren.

She was an amateur song writer and musician, professionally recording some of her songs in her beautiful alto voice in 2008 on an album entitled, "His Unending Love." She won an amateur singing competition with her sister, Betty, lead worship with her acoustic guitar at the 5:00 p.m. St. Regis Mass in Kansas City, Missouri and sang many solos at her home churches over the years. Music was a lifeline for her.

She was an extraordinary cook, best known for her baked goods during the holidays. Her famous rum cake was a Christmastime treasure that would be a huge delight for those lucky enough to get one. During the holidays, she worked late into the night baking for clients, family and friends. She never left anyone out.

She was a skilled seamstress creating garments that were passed down from sibling to sibling. She sewed throughout her life, including even making blankets for her granddaughters in her late 70's.

She was a huge Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan, and also loved cheering for her New Orleans Saints. She looked forward to watching the Triple Crown every year.
